Ketchum

Located in Blaine County, Ketchum is a centrally located city with a population of roughly 3,000 spread out over 3 square miles. Where Ketchum sits adjacent to Sun Valley, the two benefit from sharing many resources. Given the recreational activity options, the area is world famous for skiing, fishing, hiking, and so much more. Visitors come from all over to enjoy the countless options.

Ketchum has a history for being a a center for smelting as well as sheep shipping. It wasn’t until the 1930’s when the development of Sun Valley by the Union Pacific Railroad had taken place that the area became more popular and even with celebrities. Both Gary Cooper and Ernest Hemmingway had gone there to take part in hunting and fishing.

Today, the Wagon Days festival is hosted every Labor Day weekend that boasts wagon trains, ore wagons, simulated gunfights and a parade.
